There are a number of secrets in what is known as the Law of Attraction. It is by incorporating them into your life that you will gain mastery and abundance.

The Law of Attraction, like many of the universal principles that govern life, is stimulated and empowered by what you do.

As with all of these universal laws and principles, the more consciously you employ them, have appreciation in the moment and then take action, the more effective they are. This is the far-reaching benefit of living a conscious life.

Living a conscious life means having the willingness, curiosity, and courage to stay present to your thoughts and feelings, to the meeting point of body, emotion, mind, and spirit.

It means staying present to the impact you have on others and your environment, as well as the choices available to you. To live a conscious life—to be awake and aware—is to be gloriously alive!”

1. Living A Conscious Life

Living consciously involves understanding and incorporating many of the tools and techniques that are available from the Ageless Wisdom.

Conscious living is an underlying theme in most of the Wisdom Wednesday blogs I write because it is a key element in living a happy and successful life in which the choices you make have a direct impact on your experience of joy and life.

Revealing and encouraging you to use these ageless tools and techniques and to learn to live an integrated life where you can express and enjoy your life purpose and your Soul purpose, is what this Wisdom Wednesday blog series is all about and what fuels all of my meditation products.

You may have noticed that Abundance is a theme that I address repetitively because it is a challenge in so many lives.

2. Gratitude and Appreciation

The very act of appreciation works in many ways.

First, it focuses your attention on what you already have in a positive and dynamic way. This unleashes the subtle power of the Law of Attraction. Immediately upon noticing what you have that you appreciate you are affirming your abilities. When your attention is upon what you have accomplished in life and have already received, you are naturally stimulated to consider creative solutions to current goals and desires.

This starts a chain reaction that leads to even greater success. Your creativity is stimulated with new ideas. Solutions to issues you have held in the background of your mind open up to you. This is a subtle alchemy that influences your life.

It is no surprise that people are more open, receptive and generous to those who express their gratitude. This is a significant factor in successful relationships, both personal and business. Appreciation is a powerful stimulant to do more and give more of what is appreciated. That is a subtle dynamic of how the Law of Attraction works that is both logical and easy to understand.

This energetic principle also utilizes the dynamic principle that “energy follows thought.” These combined forces make a powerful tonic for creating success in your life. To use these tools to enhance your success just makes sense.

Just as thoughts, send out vibrations to which there is a creative and attractive power, gratitude stimulates the field of etheric energy that surrounds you on a subtle level to bring into your life more of what brings you joy.

The Law of attraction and the dynamic principle that Energy Follows Thought are at work in the world whether you use them or not. They can be used consciously for your advantage or denied and ignored completely. Whether they are used or not, they are still at work. That is the nature of universal laws and principles. They are amazingly impersonal. Yet, by consciously using these laws and principles in your life, you have at your command ways to impact and influence your life for good, for success, for joy.

Expressing your appreciation works by energetically magnetizing to you more of what you appreciate. When your appreciation is expressed to someone else, everybody in the situation feels good. That seems like a pretty great result by doing something that is easy to do.

Consider your life today. As the year is winding down into the oblivion of the past and a shiny new year is ahead, it is a good time to take stock of and consider the many ways you have been blessed. I suggest you use this period to try an experiment.

Create an Appreciation List

Make a list of 10 things in your life, which you truly appreciate about your life. As you move through your days leading up to the New Year, express your appreciation for those things.

If there is someone who enhances your life, let them know you appreciate them.

As often as you can throughout the day, remember what is on your list and express your appreciation for it, even if it is only in your mind, silently. Let yourself be filled and strengthened by the satisfaction and happiness that expressing your appreciation brings.

It is helpful to review your “appreciation list” every morning. You can make a copy of the list to post on your mirror or copy it into your mobile phone. Make it available and accessible, easy to consider, easy to remember, easy to express.

So much of our thinking is habitual. If you make it your habit to appreciate what you already have you are incorporating one of the most effective techniques of conscious living.

In the weeks before the New Year, consciously observe what opportunities and circumstances reveal themselves to you around the items on your “appreciation list.” I think you will be delightfully surprised.

Igniting the Law of Attraction in your life can have far-reaching impact. Using the powerful principle of appreciation as a magnetic force for what you wish to attract can enhance your effectiveness.

I suggest you experiment and then observe your life on a variety of levels.

Around 4th of July,
our thoughts turn to freedom
.

In the 241 years since a gathering of revolutionaries met and decided to risk their lives in a quest for freedom, this date has stood out, certainly for Americans but also as an example to the wide world of the importance and value of freedom.

At that gathering so long ago, the United Sates of America Founding Fathers declared freedom to be an inalienable right of a human being. This was a powerful thought that spread throughout the world. It was at the time a synthesis of thought that emerged from the philosophy and expression of what has been called by scholars, “The Age of Enlightenment.”

Certainly, nothing in human history until that fateful act of defiance had identified freedom as a right, a right given to mankind by its creator. This powerful thought still impacts lives, governments, policies, and humanity across countries and cultures today, and will influence people for years to come.

Such is the power in a thought. This is certainly a demonstration of the powerful principle that “energy follows thought.”

I am sure that every veteran who ever offered their service and their honor to fight and quite possibly die, did so in the name of preserving freedom for those who waited at home.

Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause.”

But war has always taken its toll on those who served. The very inhumanity of war, on whatever shore has left behind warriors wounded in body, mind or spirit. For many of our veterans, they long to be free of the memories, the nightmares and the vigilance required by war.

As our technology and science is applied to war we have veterans returning with unprecedented pain. There are many reasons for this. It, unfortunately, leaves those who fought to defend us with less freedom than their sacrifice granted us.

It is to provide a way to use the tools of meditation and visualization in the service and for the benefit of our veterans that I am offering a gift to any and all veterans. Over the years I have created several meditations and visualizations that have been offered to people with great success, people from all walks of life.

When the pink lights of dawn merge with the storm clouds of life I feel a call to action from life itself, a dare to seize the day. In this time I open my heart and my mind to the promptings of my Soul to ask for guidance and direction to my life.

Then in the peaceful quiet that exists at the break of dawn before I slip into all of the doing of the day I pause to give thanks for the beauty that life gives so spontaneously without requiring anything from me. I take time to consider the many blessings I have, and embrace the joy that this respite grants.

In this fertile space I open myself to the affirmation and creation of the life that I envision. Connected with my Soul and my purpose in life I consider what I can do to bring into greater manifestation the promptings of my heart.

This time of reflection empowers my life and brings me peace and emboldens me to dare and do.

Life offers us many lessons, sometimes from unlikely teachers.

Although I originally published this post in December of 2013, I am republishing it because the lessons I learned from my dog Silky are different from the lessons I learn from my current dog Bentley, just as our human teachers have different personalities and characteristics that teach us different life lessons.

As I was considering what to post for this week’s Wisdom Wednesday Blog I chose to update and repost this article.

Update:

Silky passed on to doggy heaven in July of 2014. In 2014, a new fur baby came to me as a rescue, my dog Bentley. He has a very different nature and teaches different life lessons.

In October of 2014 I wrote a post about what Bentley was teaching me.

The thing that I think was most wonderful is that each of these souls had mastered giving unconditional love.

The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog.

I am very grateful for the blessing of unconditional love that each of these dogs have brought into my life.

My life has been richer and blessed by the animals that have accompanied me on my adventure. I encourage you to take some time to consider what you can learn from the animal consciousness that has come into your life. Each Presence is unique in what they teach you and offer to you.

I hope you enjoy this somewhat lighter perspective on life lessons. Life lessons are available to us from everywhere if we keep our hearts and minds open.

 

10 Things I Learned

    1. How to relax – when my dog relaxes he does it completely without a worry or concern.
    2. How to forgive immediately – my dog forgives any error on my part and then forgets it.
    3. How to express love with spontaneous joy – my dog gets completely into expressing his love and doesn’t stop until I say enough.
    4. How to be grateful for what I receive – my dog approaches every treat or blessing that life offers with gratitude and appreciation.
    5. How to be in the moment (in the Now) – my dog does not let anything that has happened in the past have any impact on the present and he never worries about the future.
    6. How to Love unconditionally – my dog always loves me and it has nothing to do with what I do. It is always there for me.

    7. How to forgive yourself – as quickly as he forgives me he also forgives himself, even if he has done something wrong; as quickly as any of my transgressions are forgiven and forgotten so are his.
    8. How to honestly express his feelings – if he doesn’t like or trust someone, no amount of comforting or commanding will stop the expression of his feelings, he trusts his intuition completely.
    9. How to delight in the simple joys of life – playing – running- sniffing a new smell – whatever the experience, it is approached with a joyful abandon
    10. How to just be – My dog never makes demands of himself or his time, is never self-critical, he enjoys and appreciates just being.

Holiday Forgiveness and Gratitude

What is it that makes the difference and more importantly what can we do to make our experiences of family gatherings fun, joyful and a supportive experience?

For some people being together as a family is the joyous, celebratory part of a holiday. For others the events of holiday gatherings are stressful and challenging.

I am reminded of a story my sister-in-law told me several years ago. She was working in retail when a customer asked her what her plans for the holiday were, and she responded by saying the whole family was gathering at her sister-in-law’s home. Her customer began to offer her sympathy, and when she said how much she was looking forward to it, her customer was shocked. My sister-in-law commented that in her family were people she considered her dearest friends. Her customer was surprised and then went on to express the dread of being with her own family.

At the time I remember us being grateful that we had the family we did and the relationship of being both friends and family, not only in loving one another but also in the support and encouragement we shared not only with one another but within the family structure. Today I considered what makes the difference in these two very different experiences of families gathering for the holidays. It seems that these diverse experiences of family life and family gatherings are common. What is it that makes the difference and, more importantly, what can we do to make our experiences of family gatherings fun, joyful and a supportive experience?

When we look at the structure of the family two vital factors come to my mind. They are love and forgiveness. How the love is expressed or all too often not expressed is a significant part of family gatherings and whether or not we leave those events happy and fulfilled or disappointed and frustrated. By the time a family gathers together, there has been a lifetime of experiences. Expectations and what we desire and need from one another have colored our history of family gatherings and unless we consciously do something different the best predictor of what will happen is what has happened in the past.

However, we do not have to be tied to the past. We have the ability to change and transform the dynamic of these events by what we bring to the event in our thoughts and with our actions. We have the power to act rather than merely react. When we take that power, we change our experience and provide the opportunity to heal relationships in ways beyond our imaginings.

Forgiveness is the final form of love.

One essential key to facilitating transformation of family gatherings is forgiveness, and the other is love. Although there is a great deal that can be said (read my other forgiveness posts) in these two areas instead of thinking and theorizing on these. I suggest a dynamic experiment that you can do. It requires no agreement or participation from anyone else. It is very simple and yet both powerful and empowering. No one needs to know you are doing this.

To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.

This exercise incorporates the very powerful forces of Love, Forgiveness and Gratitude. They involve saying in your mind specific repetitive phrases when observing the behaviors of those around you. You can shift freely and fluidly between these phrases. You can choose them at will. For as much of the time you are with your family as you find possible, repeat these phrases in your mind. You may find your own variations and expressions of the phrases. Keep repeating the phrases no matter what is happening or what anyone is doing. Beyond using the power of your mind, there is nothing you need to do or say. There is no reason to explain or belabor this, just repeat these phrases in your mind and heart.

The Phrases are:

    Please forgive me
    Thank you
    I love you
    I forgive you
    I forgive myself

You may find other similar thoughts flow through your mind. You may find yourself lured by specifics. Let yourself be freed from your entire past “story” and return to repeating these simple phrases in your mind. The past is over. The future is unwritten. At this moment, right now, just repeat these simple phrases.

You may observe dramatic changes in others from doing this experiment. You may only experience a change in yourself. You may not see any response or effect. That does not matter.

It is not important to explain or express anything to anyone. The transformation you are creating in this experiment happens on a subtle energetic level. Just return to repeating in your mind the phrases and carry on with what you are doing.

Please continue with this by continuing to repeat these phrases for the duration of your family gathering.

The concepts of grace and forgiveness are inextricably tied together in our minds and emotions.

We know grace exists, and on some deep level of our consciousness, we know that the existence of grace has nothing to do with worthiness or deserving.

We know grace, like forgiveness, cannot be earned. We know that these experiences are available but are not really fully understood by us.

Because we have done nothing to deserve the healing power that grace and forgiveness bring into life, for many it is hard to accept.

Rejecting grace, rejecting forgiveness, and especially learning to forgive oneself are key elements in what must be transcended to permit healing. Suffering, dis-ease, keeping oneself separate from others are all manifestations of a mistaken attempt of penance, an attempt that is unnecessary.

Grace and forgiveness do not require you be worthy, they require that you are willing to accept that there is a Higher Power and a part of you that is willing to align with it. Forgiveness and grace are integral parts of Love in action.

You are not perfect, and you are not expected to be perfect. You were created to learn and grow through the adventure of life. Grace and forgiveness are available because God knows you will make mistakes. God offers these things as a demonstration of how God Loves you.

Love, which ultimately has the power to heal us and restore us, is kept away by this same sense of lack of worthiness and separation that deprives us of receiving and accepting both grace and forgiveness. Whatever mistakes one has made in life prior to this very moment in time, it pales in comparison by continuing to reject the opportunity to be forgiven, to be restored to the unity that is available.

We often, as a society and as individuals wrap ourselves in concepts of penance, suffering to the depth of our being in an attempt to earn or to deserve, that which cannot be earned or ever deserved, but is by its very nature and its essence, freely given, grace and forgiveness. This suffering is self-inflicted and completely unnecessary.

You were not created to suffer. You were created to learn and grow and expand your consciousness. You were created to enjoy the many blessings life offers you through a myriad of diverse experiences to grant you happiness and success. These are the gifts of Love. These are the expressions of grace and forgiveness that give you the freedom to have a life fully and abundantly.

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.

The glamour’s, the illusions, the Maya you have built to sustain the sense of separation, has trapped you in a lie. Let us for a moment consider and imagine what our life would be like, what we could accomplish if we allowed ourselves to fully accept the grace that accompanies forgiveness. Come into this moment of powerful potential by imagining that all the mistakes of your life from the past up to this moment of time were erased and totally and completely forgiven. Do you, like me feel tremendous relief and release?

In this moment, right now you can let that which is past be wiped clean. Because it is all in the past as you enter into the now, in this moment you are freed from it all; freed to be fully in this moment, freed to simply be and accept the joy and the Love that releasing your bondage to past events brings. Let the truth free you into this moment of awareness into the redemption that is here for you in the now.

What has been has no power over you. What will be is just emerging.

To further experience and incorporate this blessing, take a moment to align your spine and visualize grace and forgiveness descending from your Soul as radiating golden-white light. Hold out your hands to fully accept and receive this blessing. As that Light descends you are renewed, you are restored. You are forgiven. All the shackles of the past dissolve into nothingness. What has been has no power over you. What will be is just emerging.

Let the illusions all fall away as you enter into this essence of Love, this essence of being. In this moment is the opportunity for truth and in that truth the freedom that is granted by grace, when you let yourself accept the forgiveness and Love that is the true and essential nature of life.

Embrace and enfold this grace and forgiveness into the very essence of your being and know that unlimited possibility and potential are available for you, NOW, and from this moment forward.

Take a moment to celebrate and enjoy the grace and forgiveness that are freely available to you. Let yourself receive the Love that is available for you. Let your heart be filled with joy. Claim that joy as your own as you let yourself receive the unlimited potential that life offers you.

From this moment of Grace and this blessing of forgiveness consider how you can share this power and this blessing with others. Love freely. Forgive easily and let your life become a demonstration of the grace which you have received.

When you waken in the morning, there is a fertile time before you rise that can be used to connect, align and empower your life.

 

As you lie in bed, before you let your mind start its endless chatter take a deep breath, settle your body back into the mattress and take a moment to gather Love into your heart.

 

 

As you gather that Love and appreciate and enjoy the peaceful sensation that it brings, with the speed of thought, imagine from your heart Love flowing out to touch the lives of all you will connect with today and as your loving energy touches them let it magnetize to you all who you can truly serve today and bring to you, those who can serve you.

If you are enjoying this sensation, as I often do, let your mind drift gently to awareness of the support you can draw from this quiet moment as you align your life with your Soul purpose and gather around you and be receptive and connect to the love your Soul brings to you.

You might wish to add to this brief interlude consideration of things for which you are grateful.

Then move on to your life activities and your day and this connection can bring you strength and support throughout the day.

Watching the Water Flow By

As I sit in my meditation chair, just outside is a canal of water.

 

To watch the water flow by in its endless exchange of energy with the sea is very peaceful and calms my mind.

 

It is said in Wisdom teachings that you can never step into the same river twice.

 

The ever flowing nature of water is also ever changing as life is ever changing, yet in one of those profound ironies that so influence our comprehension of the world, there is continuity, sameness to the flow of the waters of our life.

It seems in observing the flow of water, in and out from the ocean; back and forth with the tide we can better understand the nature of time and the mystery of the eternal NOW.” – Genevieve Gerard

The waters of life flow through our life and get divided into categories like past and future but remain present in the moment, in the NOW.

This continuity of consciousness like the water provides both the opportunity for sameness and the opportunity for possibility and potential as yet untapped.

This continuous flow whether it be of the water or life events creates awareness that in any moment everything can change. This potential, and the promise of this possibility, is part of the power of living in the moment.

The potential and promise of change brings hope and excitement to the adventure of our life while being in the moment releases us from the past freeing us from the burden of what has been while we are able to receive the joy of being in the NOW.

If we look around us and remain open and aware there are a myriad of little blessings and simple joys for which we can be grateful.

Perhaps it is the rare combination of colors in the sky as a dark cloud blends with a pink cloud at sunrise.

Perhaps it is the cool movement of the air on your face on a warm day.

Perhaps it is the waif of perfume in the air as you pass by a blooming bush.

These little blessings of beauty and nature make up the miracle of life.

We only need to open our eyes to see the gifts that abound all around us. These are the simple joys in life.

Independence Day Freedom

Today is the 4th of July; a day that all across the United States the concept of freedom is pondered and considered.

This concept is very powerful and in the years since our Forefathers espoused the principles of governance to guide the emerging nation that became our country freedom has been a constant principle, sometimes misused, sometimes misunderstood and yet it remains a deep principle and tenet of our consciousness.

The freedom to do, the freedom to say, the freedom to think and the freedom to be are all cornerstones of the awareness of modern man all around the planet.
Today as I meditate and ponder upon these weighty concepts I am aware of a kind of freedom that comes not from a governmental system but rather from our individual heart, mind and Soul. That is the freedom to forgive ourselves.

It is not unusual that I would think of this as I have been working on creating meditations on Self-Forgiveness for a variety of different groups in a variety of circumstances of life events. But as I ponder the concept of Freedom as the dawn breaks over the skies of a 4th of July, the freedom to forgive oneself and to free oneself from the endless toxic cycle of self-judgment and recrimination seems to be important.

All too often our thoughts and feelings are trapped in self-blame, self-doubt and shame that not only limits our ability to be free but destroys our hope, our promise and our potential to both give and receive love.

This lack of self-forgiveness, this blame game we all play to varying degrees, disconnects us from those around us, separates and isolates us and denies both us and others of the Love that we all so desperately need and desire. It serves no purpose for all that you have ever done and all that has ever been done to you is in the past. It is only by your lack of self-forgiveness or forgiveness of the other that it is brought into the present to contaminate what is truly happening and deprive you of the peace the love and the joy that life is offering you in the now, in this moment, here and now today.

As we celebrate with family and friends the freedoms we enjoy, I invite you to add a new freedom to enjoy, the freedom from self-judgment, self-blame and self-recrimination.” – Genevieve Gerard

To do this I invite you into the present, into this moment of time. Consciously and with intention realize that the past is past. It cannot invade or influence this moment of time unless you invite it in. In the moment you have the power and the freedom to be released from any and all pain and circumstance in life that has come before.

Let yourself enter into the freedom that this moment grants by both expanding your awareness into this moment of time and confining your awareness to this moment of time. In this moment the past is both dissolved and resolved. In this moment all you have ever experience can be released because it is in the past. You are free from it. You are unfettered and released in the awareness that because it is in the past it cannot be altered or changed, but it can be forgiven.

In this moment is a magic that lays before you a future that has not been written that holds a potential and a promise that everything can be different and new from everything that has ever come before. This power is available to you as you enter into the reality and realization of what is truth, without the distortion of the past. Accepting this moment, while releasing and forgiving what has been, while opening yourself to all that can be, all that can happen in this ongoing adventure of life.

Shedding the past as the worn out garment you have worn and worried too long invites you into NOW and gives you true freedom, the freedom to be and the freedom to become all that you have ever longed to be.

Accept this freedom, release the past through self-forgiveness and embrace the full possibility of your life to celebrate true independence.

Happy Independence Day. Today is truly the first day of the rest of your life. Go forth freed from past errors and mistakes to fulfill you higher purpose and destiny.

Recently, while I was talking with a spiritual friend of mine he shared an insight a mutual friend of ours had that felt very significant. That insight is that many of us when focusing on manifesting our needs don’t understand the difference between wealth and abundance.

Often the lives of those who follow the principles of the Law of Attraction have lives of great and glorious abundance. What they may not have is abundance of wealth. What they may need is wealth. If you think of your own life, as I thought about mine through this filter, there may be a significant shift in your energy. Manifesting wealth is very different from manifesting abundance.

There are many wealthy people who lack abundance and as many spiritual people know there are many whose lives are overflowing with abundance that lack the wealth necessary for their needs.

Take a moment and consider and review your own life within the context of these two very different energies. Ponder upon which you need and which you need to manifest in your life. If you already have an abundant life take a minute to realize that and express your gratitude. If what you need is to manifest greater wealth then shift your words and intention when you practice your meditation or prayer and visualize with this clear differentiation in mind.

This subtle change, this subtle shift, will unleash great change in your life. Words possess great power and using the word that truly reflects what you need, especially when working with the Law of Attraction is very important. Consider this differentiation between abundance and prosperity. Remember that energy follows thought. Consider what you need and what you desire so your message to your Higher Self and your message to Source can be both accurate and clear.
